The Mayo Clinic has announced that US Rep Jesse Jackson Jr. is being treated for a bipolar disorder. His specific condition is called Bipolar II, which is defined as periodic episodes of depression and hypomania, a less serious form of mania.
Jackson took a hush-hush medical leave from Congress two months ago. It was first reported that the Congressman was suffering from a mood disorder.
“Congressman Jackson is responding well to the treatment and regaining his strength,” the clinic said in a statement.
