The International Olympic committee has booted an athlete from participating in the Olympic games due to an offensive tweet on Twitter.

Triple jumper, Voula Papachristou of Greece, made the costly mistake of thinking she could send a racist tweet that would probably have her followers laughing.  The tweet that got Papachristou in trouble was posted July 22: “So many Africans in Greece at least West Nile mosquitoes will eat homemade food”

Not funny.  The IOC has prohibited all athletes from posting any views on social networking sites that does not involve their own gameplay.

..all Greek athletes have been prohibited from using any social media outlets to express any personal opinions, which are not related to the Games of the XXX Olympiad.

“They can’t express personal opinions on other, third subjects, but only about themselves, their athletic condition, if they’re on form, or about the games, until the games are over,” stated Hellenic Olympic Committee spokesman Tassos Papachristou; who’s not related in any way to Voula.

Foot in mouth disease is extremely catchy.  There will be another athlete or celebrity voicing an opinion soon that will have stern consequences.  They will apologize and everything will be alright in the universe once again. *smirk
