Massachusetts teen Aaron Deveau, 18, was convicted of motor vehicle homicide by texting. He received a 2 1/2 year prison sentence for a car accident he was involved in while texting.
Prosecutors said Deveau, who pleaded not guilty, was texting in February 2011, when his vehicle swerved across the center line of a street and crashed head on into Daniel Bowley’s truck, killing the 55-year-old New Hampshire father of three. He is the first person convicted of this offense in his state.
This is a wake up call to many drivers who insist of texting while driving. It can be very dangerous because you can easily become distracted getting involved in a texting conversation.
