In a surprising victory for President Obama, the Supreme Court upheld his signature health care law’s individual insurance mandate in a 5-4 decision.  The mandate has been upheld as a tax, with Chief Justice John Roberts, a Bush appointee, joining the liberal wing of the court to save the law.

Obama: Ruling “a victory for people all over this country whose lives will be more secure because of this law.” 

What does this mean for Americans?

In the ruling, the high court decided the most controversial provision — the individual mandate requiring people to have health insurance — is valid as a tax, even though it is impermissible under the Constitution’s commerce clause.  READMORE.

If you do not have health insurance, you can be taxed higher by the IRS is what I’ve deduced.  However,  you should research further for your own informational purposes.
