Boxer Paul Williams was critically injured while riding his motorcycle in Marietta Georgia over the weekend.  Williams, 30, severed his spinal cord after falling on his back and head after being thrown from the motorcycle.  He is paralyzed from the waist down.

This ends the boxing career of the welterweight title holder.  Williams was scheduled to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on Sept. 15 in Las Vegas but that event has been canceled.

His camp is optimistic that the champ will return to the boxing ring.  “We want his fans to know he’s going to be all right and he’ll be back,” his manager George Peterson said. “He said if he wasn’t going to be boxing, he’s going to be a stand-up comedian.”
