No surprise here.  Legendary singer/actress Whitney Houston covers the March 5th issue of Jet Magazine.

Hers is a story for the ages. A rare beauty who possessed raw talent, she was fiercely protected and meticulously nurtured, cloaked in the royal hems of musical heavyweights Cissy Houston, her mother, and Dionne Warwick, her first cousin. Music was her destiny. From the first notes, anyone within earshot knew Whitney Elizabeth Houston would be epic.

But now she is gone— her magical voice forever silenced, her spotlight forever dimmed. The 48-year-old singer, whose music and distinctive singing solidified her as the legendary songstress of our generation, died Feb. 11 in a Los Angeles hotel room— just one day before the entertainment world gathered to fete its best and brightest on stage at the Grammy Awards— leaving Houston’s family, friends and a nation stunned by her death.

“I know people are wondering how she died, but I wonder why— that’s more important to me,” gospel singer BeBe Winans said exclusively to JET.

In our superstar-sized cover story, we look back at Houston’s golden career — including timelines of her hit songs, her knock-out live performances, her tumultuous personal life — and much more as we remember, The Voice. Jetmag
