The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial was officially dedicated Sunday in Washington DC with thousands in attendance.  Scheduled speakers encouraged the crowd to keep his ideals and values alive; noting that we have come a long way but still have a ways to go.

“As we dedicate this monument, I can hear my father saying that oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever,” she said. “The yearning for freedom eventually manifests itself … I hear my father saying what we are seeing now, all across the streets of America and the world, is a freedom explosion.”  Rev Bernice King.
